“But Reisman is the standout” — The Washington Post

Classically trained. Devilishly handsome. Hilariously funny. Modest to a fault. Paul Reisman is a professional actor, director, playwright and clown.

Paul has a BFA in Acting from Montclair State University, an MFA in Classical Acting from the Shakespeare Theatre's Academy for Classical Acting, and certificates aplenty. He has also trained extensively with master teachers John Basil, Dody DiSanto, Christopher Bayes, and Maestro Antonio Fava.

After many years based in New York, and one year on tour with the American Shakespeare Center, Paul came to the greater DC area, where he still resides today. In addition to pursuing his MFA, Paul was a founding member of Faction of Fools, DC's award-winning Commedia dell'Arte theatre company, and would later take over as Producing Artistic Director. His work with the company garnered multiple Helen Hayes Award nominations for productions he both wrote and directed.

In the DC area, his work has been seen at the Kennedy Center, Shakespeare Theatre Company, Taffety Punk, dog & pony, Flying V, Spooky Action Theatre, Best Medicine Rep, We Happy Few, and others. Regionally, at venues including the American Globe Theatre, Shakespeare Theatre of NJ, 12 Miles West, TheatreFest, and the American Shakespeare Center. His voice can be heard regularly on audiobooks for GraphicAudio.

For over 20 years, Paul has been an educator as well, specializing in Physical Theatre, Classical work, Clown and Commedia dell'Arte. He is currently Principal Acting Teacher at Baltimore School for the Arts, and has taught for Shakespeare Theatre Company, Imagination Stage, Traveling Players Ensemble, and the Smithsonian, among others. He is a proud member of Actor's Equity Association.
